Shorelines
The shoreline is a powerful symbol — a living threshold where land meets sea, where the known yields to the unknown, and where change is constant. It is a space of transition and transformation, where boundaries blur and new possibilities emerge. Here, connection and separation coexist: it links us to distant worlds while grounding us in place; it invites both solitude and community.

The shoreline reflects the cycles of life — ebb and flow, loss and return — and reminds us that nothing stays still for long. This in-between space offers room for reflection, imagination, and renewal. To stand at the shoreline is to stand at the edge of what is and what could be — and to be open to both.
Shorelines is an eight-month programme of creative activity — featuring over 50 events and activities in Stranraer — culminating in two public showcases. Rooted in the unique geography and spirit of the town, Shorelines sees Stranraer and its waterfront not just as a physical place, but as a threshold: where land meets sea, memory meets possibility, and creativity takes shape. It’s a place of stories — of arrival and departure, of belonging and becoming.

Developed in alignment with All Rise on the Tide — the Stranraer Place Plan — Shorelines seeks to amplify the voices of the community and explore who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going.
The Shorelines programme will be published on the Creative Stranraer What’s On page.
